La litografia è una tecnica grafica che trae origine da un tipo di stampa piana, in cui il disegno viene realizzato su una pietra litografica e poi duplicato utilizzando l'inchiostro e uno speciale torchio litografico. Il disegno viene realizzato in positivo su una pietra litografica asciutta e poi stampato dopo aver sviluppato la matrice. Il disegno deve essere scuro e saturo, poiché l'effetto riflesso su un foglio bianco sarà sempre un po' più chiaro. Dopo aver realizzato il disegno, si rimuove la polvere con la colofonia e si copre con il talco.
